so-so submitted by lawrencekl57 on February 4, 2021, 9:17pm Based on the last few books, I think it may be time for Stephanie Plum to retire. This book is really a continuation of the last one, and not very interesting. There's also a new character who will be in future books. She seems like a desperate attempt to add something to the story, and it doesn't work. I used to really enjoy this series, and sorry that I have to write this.

I used to love this series when it was very funny, good story, a bit of mystery, great characters. But the level of disturbing violence has continuously escalated for a while now in this and other books in the series especially this book (there was another one I can't remember now that left me disgusted, too), and the plots have steadily become scant and dumb. Even the spacing of the lines on the pages has grown wider, to fill a book. This particular book I'm reviewing was terrible, disturbing and violent. The boyfriends storyline has gotten old, and it just coasts along with nothing ever solidifying, it's become a very boring and pointless theme. Twenty-seven.....I think it's run its course for me. I'm sorry to report this, too.
