"It is close to midnight on a Saturday night when Jack Reacher gets off a bus at the Greyhound station in Nashville. Reacher is in no hurry. He has no appointments to keep. No people to see. No scores to settle. Not yet anyway. But in the early morning hours, under particular circumstances, a familiar thought will be snaking through his sharp, instinctual lizard brain: A voice in his head telling him to walk away. Of course, this wouldn't be the first time he listened to his gut instead. Meanwhile, seventy-five miles south and west of Music City is a sleepy little town where a recently-fired guy nurses a grudge that will fester into fury--and a desire for payback. But who is watching him, standing guard over a long-buried secret, ready to strike before it can be revealed? If you don't have a sense of the danger you're in, then it's best to have Reacher"-- Provided by publisher.

Jack Reacher is Dead submitted by GJBarnett2 on November 9, 2020, 11:34am Lee Child has turned the Jack Reacher franchise over to his brother, Andrew, and this worthless POC is the result. The "New Jack Reacher" has the same physicality, background and nomadic nature as the original but while the latter was taciturn, this clown is a smart-ass motor-mouth; always with something half-witted to say. And while I'm as willing as the next guy to suspend my sense of disbelief to go along with the story, the deux ex machina plot device is not the mark of a competent author, and this POC (did I already mention that?) overuses it, as in Reacher entering a room he knows to contain bad guys, and among the several there, he finds 3 highly trained operators standing shoulder-to-shoulder 15 feet way holding guns on him so he quickly kills all three bare-handed before they get off a single shot. And to make it worse, that particular POC wasn't even necessary to get out of a plot corner the author had painted himself into. It was purely gratuitous. Read something else.
So disappointed! submitted by plyndale on March 6, 2021, 11:19am I gave this book 2 stars because I did actually finish it. However, it is not about Jack Reacher. It seems to be about his meaner, duller relative. The plot is ridiculous as well. I guess I’ll just have to go back and re-read the previous novels when I need a Jack Reacher fix!
