Multiverse travel is finally possible, but there's just one catch: no one can visit a world where their counterpart is still alive. Cara's parallel selves happen to be exceptionally good at dying: from diseases, from turf wars, from vendettas they couldn't outrun. On this earth, Cara has survived-- and she's reaping the benefits, thanks to the well-heeled Wiley City scientists who ID'd her as an outlier and plucked her from the dirt. Now she's got a new job collecting off-world data, a path to citizenship, and a near-perfect Wiley City accent. When one of her eight remaining doppelgangers dies under mysterious circumstances, Cara is plunged into a new world with an old secret. What she discovers endangers not just her world, but the entire multiverse. -- adapted from jacket

Exciting plot with multiracial characters submitted by mowjac on April 9, 2021, 2:40pm What a great debut novel! The plot is interesting, with continual twists and turns. The character roster is expansive: Black, Asian, transgender, bisexual. The convolutions of action keep the reader intrigued. There is a big plot hole and a bit of a deus ex machina ending, but overall an exciting read.

Super cool premise submitted by kkrasity on August 29, 2021, 2:01pm I was immediately hooked by the premise of this inventive novel about traveling between different worlds in the multiverse. The diverse cast of characters and viewpoints are a lovely bonus. Exciting all the way to the end!

Shows potential submitted by izzy42 on August 22, 2022, 1:31pm This ambitious debut novel fell into the trap where many sci-fi books stumble, where the world is fascinating but the characters are unbelievable. Cara's credulousness led to so many awkward gaps in the story that detracted from the skill of the world-building. Hence the nuance of the settings was promising but the plot fell flat for me.
