In 1956, four years before Jane Goodall ventured into the world of chimpanzees and seven years before Dian Fossey left to work with mountain gorillas, 23-year-old biologist Anne Innis Dagg made an unprecedented solo journey to South Africa to study giraffes in the wild.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Amazing woman! submitted by cheryl.sivan on October 9, 2020, 10:00pm Having been to the African Continent several times and falling in love with it and the wildlife, I strongly suspected that I would like this documentary. But I fell in love with Anne Dagg too. What an amazing woman. I can't imagine going to Africa in the 1950's as a single American woman but she did. She is the product of two great parents who inspired and freed her to follow her interests. Her later struggle in academia as a woman in Canada was painful to see. This is a wonderful story on so many levels and also a sad story on so many levels but a must see!
