The beauty business is about to get ugly.

Fine, But Doesn't Capitalize on Its Huge Potential submitted by Meginator on July 11, 2021, 12:22pm This film has a lot of wasted potential, but it’s still a perfectly fine, vaguely empowering comedy about the importance of honesty and compromise in a strong friendship. The cast is absolutely brilliant, making the most out of a bland script and rescuing flat jokes and nonsensical plot developments that would have otherwise doomed the entire enterprise from the start, but the film’s intended emotional beats ultimately get lost in its too-earnest attempts to be both silly and serious. Nonetheless, I watched this on a day when I needed something to essentially have on in the background and not have to think too deeply about, and it fit the bill perfectly. The cast and storyline may deserve better, but in the end the movie settles for a middle-of-the-road existence that works well enough.
