COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A great adaptation submitted by kwolney on July 17, 2020, 5:26pm This adaptation of the book Just Mercy written by Bryan Stevenson, founder of Equal Justice Initiative is very well done. It is a very sobering look into the epidemic of mass incarceration and death penalty in the united states.

Watch this ASAP submitted by Will O on August 26, 2020, 9:39am This is one of those movies where the trailer did zero justice (sorry) to the actual film.
Amazing performances across the board from Jamie Foxx to the Michael B. Jordan of acting to Brie Larson.
Easily the best part of this movie was how well it puts the viewer in the emotional headspace of both the condemned and the people fighting to free them.
There were plenty of racist white southerners but none felt unbelievable or over the top and a few were even on their way to hopefully being better or at least aware of how awful they were although most were still oblivious.
The injustice of watching someone clearly innocent be denied again and again was infuriating and terrible.
One of the few movies that is both hard to watch but also a film that I want to revisit again soon.
Bonus points to the filmmakers for not tacking on a loud pop song at the end but instead going with something quieter and more in line with the tone of the movie.

Cool submitted by maywang on June 11, 2021, 8:01pm Nice blue-ray on equality
