"Originally published in single magazine form as The Sandman Univers 1 and The Dreaming 1-6"--Title page verso.
"One of four books expanding Neil Gaiman's acclaimed Sandman Universe. There is a place where gods are born and stories are spun. Today its walls lie slashed and bleeding. Twenty-three years after he was anointed as its master, the lord of dreams has inexplicably abandoned his domain. Lord Daniel's absence triggers a series of crimes and calamities that consume the lives of those already tangled in his fate. Until he is found, his realm's residents must protect its broken borders alone. Begs way more questions than it answers submitted by BurntSaori on October 30, 2020, 8:03am I’m a new sandman fan and maybe it’s because the series is still very fresh but this was a big disappointment. There was literally only one panel that Daniel appears in, it starts a bunch of story threads and immediately abandons them, and has zero character development apart from 2 characters that aren’t supposed to do that. The one new character that’s interesting doesn’t know who/what/why she is and so you’d hope that by the end at least SHE would know. Questionable. Art was beautiful, but overall felt very different from Gaiman’s Sandman, and I’m not even a huge Gaiman fan. Finished the book but didn’t feel worth it at all.
