The lyrical content spans all sorts of horror ideas, from self-contained stories to more nebulous Halloween-like vibes, with a few bands taking a more humorous approach to the subject. With a wide variety of subgenres represented, it’s also a solid snapshot of the punk scene in the late 2010s, including a surprising number of old stalwarts among the newer bands and providing a good entry point into the genre given the diversity of approaches and styles. Overall, this is a really satisfying collection built on a really solid idea; the spirit of punk is such a good inherent match for the spirit of Halloween.
