Good! submitted by manz on August 10, 2020, 10:30am A good film. I don't know the original story, so I can't say how correct they got it. But the acting is great and the story is very engaging, and I was surprised I liked it so much. I also recently watched the 2013 film Rush.

Surprising submitted by Andrewsarchus on August 12, 2020, 6:50am Surprisingly engaging, even for non car lovers. The film sucks you in and you begin to feel yourself move to the edge of your seat, willing on the protagonist on every straight and turn.

Slow Start, Picks Up Speed submitted by Meginator on August 12, 2020, 5:22pm It took me a while to become emotionally invested in this film and figure out what was going on, but once I did the rest of its runtime flew by. Christian Bale and Matt Damon give astounding performances as the mechanic/driver and designer, respectively, who form the core of the Ford team trying to wrestle the Le Mans title away from Ferrari. The film is at once a compelling character study, a corporate drama, and a traditional underdog sports story, yet it doesn’t always go in expected directions. The racing scenes are shot well and convey the power and speed of these engines, as well as the dangers inherent at pushing machines to their absolute limit. I do wish that the script went into greater detail about the actual design of the cars, beyond Bale rattling of lists of parts at various points, but surprisingly few moments seem wasted in such a long film. I’m glad I stuck with this after a slow beginning, because the story became a lot more engrossing than I expected.
