COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding make a good team submitted by yufamily on August 19, 2020, 1:35pm This story melted my heart! Worth watching.

A very, very bad movie submitted by Will O on August 26, 2020, 9:38am Sometimes you need to watch a bad movie to appreciate the good ones. This is a bad movie.
I really wanted to like it. Emma Thompson is usually a good writer and actress, Emilia Clarke had great eyebrows, Henry Golding has been solid in what I've seen him in, Michelle Yeoh can do no wrong but damn this was just a bad movie.
The tone was all over the place and the dark cynical view did not blend well with the lighthearted rom com elements at all which were just the most cliched tropes I've seen since the mid 2000's rom com boom. Maybe in the hands of a better director or with five or six more rewrites it could have been ok but this should not have been released. The editing was bad, the camera shots were the most boring you could get and I don't usually rag on that stuff but whew, the story was so distractingly bad that I couldn't help but notice how bad the technical aspects were too.
Not sure if someone fell asleep to Wham's greatest hits and decided to make a movie out of that ala Across The Universe and cashed the check before they realized it was terrible or what but this was a colossal waste of talent and the viewers time.
And that "twist", I just had to laugh because I would have cried at how dumb it was otherwise.

Watched it for the casts... submitted by scott.cheewakarn on August 10, 2022, 9:31pm Watched it for the casts -- the plot is too predictable
