Through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, Columbus, Tallahasse, Wichita, and Little Rock must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. It works submitted by majean on July 19, 2020, 7:31pm I was concerned about this coming out so long after the original, but I enjoyed it, and it worked for me. It brought something new rather than just riffing on the first movie.

Decent, but not as good as the first submitted by Will O on August 26, 2020, 9:28am Not quite as good as the original but that was an unexpectedly funny offbeat zombie comedy whereas this was trying to recapture the fun and irreverent tone of ZLand 1 instead of being its own thing.
The cast still shines especially Woody Harrelson who is amazing in everything.
Zoey Deutch was also a highlight and was really good in what would have been a stock character in most other actors hands.
Wish Rosario Dawson had more screentime and she was a bit underutilized.
There were funny moments and scenes but for the most part the story was a retread of the first movie and the great chemistry of the leads couldn't quite save the weaker story.
Glad I watched it and I actually laughed a few times but I won't rewatch it like I do/did the first one.

The Zom-Com Rises Again submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 9:44am This is a fun action-horror-comedy, but it doesn’t have the emotional power of its predecessor and suffers a bit from the desire to cram more ideas into the story instead of relying on the power of its established characters and their relationships. The story has a couple too many big twists and game-changers, and I was hugely disappointed that the writers didn’t do more with the idea of mutated zombies with different strengths after initially implying that this would drive much of the action; this was a massive missed opportunity. That isn’t to say that the film isn’t a ton of fun, however, because it is; the core cast came back for a reason, and it’s clear throughout that they’re enjoying themselves and having fun while trying to do more with their characters than the script allows. The script may not have enough depth or character development, especially in comparison with the first Zombieland film, but it is often very funny and I laughed out loud a few times. Overall, I’d say this is an enjoyable (and gory) romp and again a unique addition to the zombie genre, even if it doesn’t quite live up to expectations.
