COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Disappointed submitted by DL on June 14, 2020, 4:55pm I was thinking this movie would be of Judy Garlands life not about the end of her life with little snippets of her earlier years.

Struggled ending submitted by kwolney on August 8, 2020, 8:08am The movie was not as much her life story but her death story. She led a hard life and this detailed the darkness of that life. Not an uplifting and happy movie; if that’s what you are looking for - this is not it.

Expected better given the rave reviews submitted by Will O on August 26, 2020, 9:25am I kind of expected more especially considering Renee Zellweger won an Oscar for this.
She was good and for sure the best part of the movie and while there were times she totally transformed and WAS Judy there were also times where she wasn't and it took me out of the movie often when she went in and out of character.
It also just felt long. It needed a tighter story or better editing and there were way too many close ups.
Wish the story had been a little better and the supporting characters more fleshed out but they all felt a little thin and underdeveloped.
Really liked the scene where she hangs out with the gay couple all night and they go back to their apartment. The movie could have benefited from more scenes like that.
The second half was for sure better than the first but the fifth husband just sort of changed character completely and then disappeared without a mention which was again, bad storytelling.
Still totally cried when the crowd sang to her but the end still felt abrupt and wish the circumstances of her death had been a little more detailed.
Shout out to Zellweger for doing her own singing though.
