"A suspense novel that also looks at the anatomy of a Philadelphia family rocked by the opioid crisis and the relationship between two sisters--one, suffering from addiction, who has suddenly gone missing amid a series of mysterious murders; the other a police officer who patrols the neighborhood from which she disappeared: a story about the formidable ties between place, family, and fate" -- Provided by publisher.

So true to the world of Kensington, Philadelphia submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 18, 2021, 10:26pm A solid, absolute, outstanding 5 star book. Set in a blighted neighborhood of Philadelphia called Kensington, this stunningly written novel tells the story of drug use, addiction, prostitution, those who make it out, those who don’t, and life under the screeching of the El (the elevated train that runs through the neighborhood). I spent two years working at a soup kitchen exactly there, and could not believe how exactly the author got it right… then found “my” soup kitchen credited in the back of the book. There’s a bit of mystery and a bit of drama and a lot of amazing. Completely, highly recommended.
A Fictional Story About A Very Real Epidemic submitted by LMahlmeister on August 6, 2021, 10:41am A dark, suspenseful novel with a gritty, unrelentingly real narrative describing the details of the opioid epidemic. It's a 500 page book that reads quickly.
I enjoyed this submitted by bcartm01 on June 21, 2022, 7:57pm I would recommend this one. I found it on Obama’s reading list, and was glad that I read it. It brings personal qualities to the opioid epidemic, and it is also a very smooth read.
