"The spirit of Marisol, who vanished during the Cuban Revolution, visits her nephew, Ramon, in modern-day New Jersey, and her presence prompts him to investigate the story of his ancestor, unaware of the forces driving him on his search"-- Provided by publisher.
"Marisol vanished during the Cuban Revolution, disappearing with hardly a trace. Now, shaped by atrocities long-forgotten, her tenacious spirit visits her nephew, Ramón, in modern-day New Jersey. Her hope: that her presence will prompt him to unearth their painful family history. Ramón launches a haphazard investigation into the story of his ancestor, unaware of the forces driving him on his search. Along the way, he falls in love, faces a run-in with a murderous gangster, and uncovers the lives of the lost saints who helped Marisol during her imprisonment."--Inside book jacket.

Good and gets better to amazing finish submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 13, 2022, 10:07pm Stick through the beginning of this book (if it doesn’t make sense to you right away), because it comes together and is POWERFUL! _The Book of Lost Saints_ definitely had aspects that were culturally a stretch for me (the benefit of reading diverse authors for this white woman) and I appreciated both the historical and cultural learning that were embedded in the story. But mostly, the story was gorgeous, with characters that I fell in love with, settings that were vibrant and rich, and a compelling mystery that I could not put down. I loved it right to the last pages. Highly recommended.
