Ovens Need Not Apply submitted by Meginator on August 20, 2021, 8:08pm The bulk of this book consists of recipes for edible cookie dough (Tomlan uses pasteurized egg whites and heat-treated flour), customized with different mix-ins; the basic dough recipes are fantastic, but the variations are a bit redundant after a while. However, this book also has extensive front matter and a surprising number of recipes for baked goods featuring cookie dough. While some verge on silly overabundance (is cookie dough frosting *really* necessary on top of cookie cupcakes?), others are absolutely delectable. A good portion of this book is, frankly, unnecessary, but it’s definitely worth checking out for its few gems; anyone who really loves cookie dough should at least page through it and try a few of the basic doughs.
