Meh, it's ok. submitted by robinfowler on November 12, 2019, 8:33pm I was a little surprised-- while it pushes back on the color stereotypes, it reinforces others...
Great Concept, But... submitted by Meginator on August 28, 2020, 6:15pm This book has a really strong premise behind it, but fails to make the most of its core idea, instead reiterating the same point without bringing any fresh perspectives from page to page. Each color is paired with a concept, but most seem arbitrary and unhelpful despite Pearlman’s clear intent to invite readers to rethink their assumptions. The illustrations are generally excellent, with a lot of creative energy, good use of the featured colors, and an inviting cartoonish style that showcases a broad and inclusive range of characters, though I felt uneasy with some of the racial characterizations. I really wanted to enjoy this book, and I did enjoy digging into the imaginative illustrations, but I found it too repetitive to be particularly memorable or illuminating.
Good theme submitted by Xris on August 12, 2022, 10:59pm I like the theme that every color is for everybody. But they could have put nonbinary and other folx in there too.
Enjoyable submitted by kyounge on June 9, 2023, 2:34pm Our girls (5 and 2) liked it! Doesn't get to complicated, but that the point.
