Each book has a strong moral lesson at its core that drives the plot, although the stories themselves are still interesting because of the characters’ strong personalities and the lived-in feeling of the Berenstain Bears’ community. The illustrations are fully developed with excellent detail, and one particular spread showing a beautiful fall sky sticks in the memory both on its own merits and for the way it perfectly fits the story’s narrative arc. Gently educational but still fun to read, this duo is a great choice for readers during the October/November seasonal transition period.
