COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Yesterday Blu-ray submitted by a2sue on July 13, 2020, 3:48am I really enjoyed the Blu-ray of Yesterday. Fun premise & different...

Yesterday submitted by lstorc on August 12, 2021, 6:19am Yesterday is heartwarming and a little pretentious. It's worth watching once.

All You Need Is Music submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 9:36am Told with Danny Boyle’s typical gusto and visual flair, this movie makes the most out of its odd premise (the main character is the only person who has any knowledge about the Beatles), using this high-concept setup as a launching pad to examine the power of music and tell a love story. The overall story arc is somewhat predictable, but the film more than makes up for it with its integration of new versions of classic Beatles songs, masterfully reimagined and performed by Himesh Patel. Yet despite relying heavily on the mythology of the Fab Four, the film remains relatively grounded, never straying into outright hero worship and allowing its characters to exist (and perform) on their own merits; this is a story that uses the Beatles’ work without being about the band per se, and Boyle handles the balance really well. Along with a consistent string of excellent performances from Patel, the film’s climax and final scene convincingly demonstrate the power of music as a cultural touchpoint, giving the standard rom-com an added philosophical dimension. Music lovers of all kinds should find this very rewarding and resonant.

Good music at least submitted by brooksza on July 25, 2022, 3:48pm I really wish this movie did more with the concept.
