In the sleepy small town of Centerville, something is not quite right. The moon hangs large and low in the sky, the hours of daylight are becoming unpredictable, and animals are beginning to exhibit unusual behaviors. No one quite knows why, and no one foresees the strangest and most dangerous repercussion that will soon start plaguing the town. The dead rise from their graves and savagely attack and feast on the living, and the citizens of the town must battle for their survival.
DVD, wide screen (1.78:1); Dolby digital 5.1 surround, DVD Dolby digital 2.0 (English).

Funny! submitted by Xris on January 5, 2020, 10:50pm Love the irreverence for the genre and the fourth wall. And all the stars in it too!
Too Meta for Its Own Good submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2021, 10:47am I’m not entirely sure what to make of this film, but the all-star ensemble cast is enough to justify the running time (as long you can handle a fair bit of typical zombie-related gore). A horror comedy, the film incorporates metafictional jokes to greater and lesser degrees of success; when these moments work, they are genuinely funny and unexpected, but over time they come to feel lazy and uninspired. That said, the film is at its best when the script allows Adam Driver and Bill Murray full reign to make the most of their roles as small-town policemen dealing with the zombie apocalypse. The science fiction element that kicks the whole story off is appropriately goofy, and the characters are surprisingly robust for a parody of this type; by the end, I was surprised how much I cared about them. Things do, unfortunately, go off the rails at a few points and the film feels quite overstuffed with a few extraneous plotlines, but it’s clearly not meant to be taken seriously and entertains well enough even if its over-eager earnestness prevents it from living up to its full potential.
