"This clever alphabet book... Wait, that's not right. This original fairy tale... Nope. Mystery? Joke book? Superhero story? Pirate adventure? This delightful mash-up features every kind of character found in the picture-book universe--all in one book. Just when the reader is convinced the story is going in one direction, it spins off in another."--Amazon.

I loved "This is not That Kind of Book" submitted by Lori Tschirhart on June 24, 2020, 6:40pm This book was weird because all of the characters were going places that they thought wasn't their kind of book. So I really liked it. It was funny!
Nope submitted by plai on July 29, 2020, 4:03pm Too long and irritating
Great Concept Let Down By the Final Page submitted by Meginator on June 23, 2021, 5:47pm This charming picture book might be a bit of a mixed bag for new readers, and it require a lot of commitment as a read-aloud, but I thought it was a lot of fun. The unexpected juxtaposition of far-flung genres often had me laughing out loud, and each pastiche is done rather well, although the conclusion is unfortunately hokey (yes, even for a kids’ book) and doesn’t do the rest of the book justice. The illustrations are perfectly adequate and capture some of the nuances of different styles while ensuring that everything fits together well enough to sell the premise. I don’t think the book quite lives up to its potential (that ending really killed it for me), but it rests on a very strong concept executed fairly well.
