Halloween Fun submitted by Meginator on June 29, 2023, 11:13am This picture book offers a gentle story about Froggy and his friends as they all choose pumpkins during a school field trip. The plot is straightforward and will be predictable for most older readers, but it presents a nice and surprisingly subtle message about the many ways that someone can be considered to have the best pumpkin, so to speak, and the ways in which individuals are uniquely suited to find said pumpkins. A dedicated read-aloud performer could do a lot with the book’s many sound effects and the book offers other opportunities for interaction that make it a great choice for a collaborative reading experience. Simple and sweet, this is an excellent book for young readers, especially those who could use some subtle encouragement about the ways that they bring their own perspectives to a group.
