Solid Info, a Bit Dry on Story submitted by Meginator on June 19, 2021, 12:14pm This picture book uses a trip to an amusement park as a vehicle to explain some basic aspects of coding, particularly the use of variables. I didn’t understand the initial explanation of variables, but Funk does an excellent job of providing relevant examples that should help readers grasp the concept fairly quickly. Sara Palacios brings a sense of whimsicality to the potentially dull subject matter with a quirky robot companion accompanying the main character and colorful, humorous nods to amusement park staples. This book is a little on the dry side, with the story obviously playing second fiddle to the educational components, but it does provide an accessible introduction to coding concepts that will resonate with a lot of readers.
