One of the Best Historical Romances I've Ever Read submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 8:41am This book is absolutely amazing. Olivia Waite delivers a compelling romance while deeply engaging with a range of interesting ideas, including a fascinating argument for the equal worth of artistic and scientific pursuits, especially when the two interact. Yet for all of its depth the book never feels at all heavy, even when the two leads find themselves at odds with each other or with the type of men who discount women’s ability to contribute meaningfully to science or even society. I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to pick it up again when I want a feel-good period romance that also does some heavy thematic lifting; I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Love, want more submitted by jletaw on July 4, 2022, 7:21pm As an historical fiction and romance, author Waite really just nailed this. It was fun, easy, pleasant, and challenging all at once. Can’t wait to read more in the genre and more from this author.

A nice book about two ladies in STEM submitted by tcramer318 on June 24, 2023, 10:41am This book has a romance I can root for, a cast of interesting side characters, and a conflict that's relatable today. I read Waspish Widows before this one, so I was also excited to see the origin story for Agatha Griffin and her apprentice Eliza. I enjoyed every time Mr. Frampton made an appearance and hope that he gets his own adventures in the future, and I feel similarly about Narayan the maid. I would also recommend this book for anyone who's interested in lengthy descriptions of embroidery.
