Pure Pop Goodness submitted by Meginator on July 28, 2019, 1:29pm The runaway success of “Call Me Maybe” has unfairly pigeonholed Carly Rae Jepsen as a one-hit wonder, and this album (again) makes an irrefutable case that her talents are woefully underrated as a result. The album is pure radio-friendly pop, and Jepsen carries it off perfectly, intuiting precisely what it is that makes tracks like these so addictive and appealing and performing accordingly. Taking love as her primary lyrical muse, Jepsen crafts a series of catchy songs that hit their marks with ease. This album is gleeful pop at its best; she is so, so in her element here, and it shows.
