Initially Overwhelming, Yet Ultimately Helpful submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 1:30pm At its core, this book consists of a fairly comprehensive list of names aimed at US parents, listing each with its culture/language of origin, meaning(s), and alternate spellings. The information is comprehensive, if a little overwhelming, but makes for interesting browsing. One particularly useful feature is a large front section that includes thematic lists of names, including the US top-100 names, names rising or falling in popularity, common names in other countries, names of people famous for all types of pursuits, and names of particular thematic origin. Though initially overwhelming, this makes for nice browsing and daydreaming; if nothing else, it’s a place to start when faced with the daunting task of imposing a potentially lifelong title on someone who doesn’t yet exist.
