S.T., a domesticated crow, is a bird of simple pleasures: hanging out with his owner Big Jim, trading insults with Seattle's wild crows (those idiots), and enjoying the finest food humankind has to offer: Cheetos ®.Then Big Jim's eyeball falls out of his head, and S.T. starts to feel like something isn't quite right. His most tried-and-true remedies--from beak-delivered beer to the slobbering affection of Big Jim's loyal but dim-witted dog, Dennis--fail to cure Big Jim's debilitating malady. S.T. is left with no choice but to abandon his old life and venture out into a wild and frightening new world with his trusty steed Dennis, where he discovers that the neighbors are devouring each other and the local wildlife is abuzz with rumors of dangerous new predators roaming Seattle. Humanity's extinction has seemingly arrived, and the only one determined to save it is a foul-mouthed crow whose knowledge of the world around him comes from his TV-watching education.

Heartwarming zombie novel submitted by jaromatorio on July 24, 2020, 11:38am Before reading ‘Hollow Kingdom’ I never would’ve thought I’d call a novel about the zombie apocalypse “heartwarming”, yet here we are!⁣

‘Hollow Kingdom’ tells the story of a mass human extinction event from the prospective of various animals—primarily S.T., a domesticated crow with a goofy sense of humor and a dopey bloodhound sidekick, Dennis. The story follows our heroes and the animals they befriend as they try to survive a post-apocalyptic Seattle that’s 1) overrun with zombies and 2) slowly being taken back by nature.⁣

This book had the perfect amount of suspense and the undead to make it a fun spooky season read for sure, but at its core, this story was really a sweet tale about the power of friendship, (and a great reminder to us humans that we should value our earth, plants and animals, and each other, or we might just get apocalypsed!!). I’d definitely recommend!⁣

Surprisingly funny and emotional tale of the zombie apocalypse submitted by kkrasity on August 29, 2021, 2:24pm I wasn't sure what to expect based on this book's premise--the zombie apocalypse told from the perspective of people's pets--but I was very pleasantly surprised by this book! The main crow character is written with a hysterical voice, and I was totally won over by his goofy dog sidekick. If you're someone like me who cries easily at videos of pets and their owners, prepare to get extremely emotionally invested in this book.

Hilarious submitted by kmp009 on June 19, 2023, 8:45am I was pleasantly surprised by this book, the zombie apocalypse is not something I usually read but the crows voice and well as the other animals are at times hilarious and heartwarming. At times quite gory, but worth it.

Give It a Try submitted by sdunav on July 6, 2023, 9:44am Crazy weird dystopia but fascinating. Set in Seattle, it's the end of humanity as narrated by a pet crow. Lots about birds and dogs and I I think this is one book you'll either love or hate. I found myself unexpectedly loving it after a dubious start.
