COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Michigan's Sister State submitted by Meginator on July 4, 2019, 11:21am This booklet provides some historical context for the diplomatic relationship between Michigan and Shiga Prefecture, highlighting several cultural exchanges that have flourished throughout the past 50 years (including events at our very own AADL). The text is presented in both Japanese and English and gives a nice history of various programs and institutions that have come out of the relationship, though the text can bit a bit dry and repetitive. Among the more interesting facts I learned is that Lake Biwa has a paddle boat named after our fair state. I had only been vaguely aware of our Japanese sister-state prior to looking this over, and it has definitely piqued my interest in visiting Shiga should I ever make it to Japan.
