Meh submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 12:21pm In typical Now That’s What I Call Music fashion, this compilation collects a group of current pop radio hits with an eye toward capturing the zeitgeist. The remix edge gives the album a bit of a different feeling than the regular installments, but with the general prevalence of EDM on the charts these tracks don’t sound all that different from their everyday counterparts. Some of these versions add something new to the originals, particularly when the familiar versions used more acoustic instrumentation (as with the songs by 5 Seconds of Summer, Shawn Mendes, and Imagine Dragons), but overall I found little to distinguish these tracks. The idea is sound, but the execution was lacking for me; with such similarities to a regular Now compilation, what’s the point of this one?
