Angel Thieves submitted by camieroper on August 7, 2019, 6:25pm Set in the Louisiana bayou area, the plot is thick with heat and swamp and gators. But the teen boy who tells the story changes the trajectory of his life in a great way, and the story is compelling. Of course it is a love story, as well as a coming of age story. The mom is missing from the picture, but his relationship with his dad is strong and he respects him greatly. Dark nightly trips to misty century-old cemeteries are a regular occurrence, but the reader doesn't come to see these for the criminal activity they truly are. We come to believe in the basic goodness of the boy, and his being thrust into a survival situation he cannot avoid. When shafts of light begin to shine into his life, the pace picks up and he begins to make progress. This is quite a nice summer read for teens.
