COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Limited Perspective submitted by Kgilroy on July 3, 2019, 1:36pm I was a bit disappointed. The movie mainly focusses on two people and doesn't really address the future of Detroit.
informative submitted by yufamily on August 24, 2019, 10:49pm Learned a lot! There are 70,000 vacant houses and hardship but there is hope.
Poverty P*rn submitted by gs2351 on July 23, 2023, 8:43am This is a poorly made documentary from the white gaze; total poverty p*rn. The Detroit residents interviewed offer some really insightful commentary, which gives the film its only value. However, the over-focus on the real estate developer didn't bring any insight to the film. The film also lacked focus and a central message; what is this film trying to say? What questions is it asking? Unclear. Stunningly, the film completely glosses over the structural racism that underlies the lives of Black Detroit. A huge miss.
