COMMUNITY REVIEWS

I want to rate it higher, for sentimental reasons. submitted by lisa on July 2, 2019, 3:51pm But it's not that good. Rankin-Bass animation was pretty mediocre, even at the time.

hasn't really aged well submitted by bec on July 25, 2019, 11:05am There's a lot to Frosty the Snowman that hasn't aged all that well, but if you're feeling nostalgic and aren't feeling picky, it's one option among many.

Timeless Classic submitted by bjkoch on July 11, 2022, 12:24pm if you ignore the current state of society.

Not As Good As Its Reputation submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2022, 6:28pm This animated special is unquestionably a classic, but it ultimately has much more style than substance. The overall design is simple but pleasant, with broad rounded lines defining each character, but all of the human children are clearly built on the same model and the one child who eventually becomes crucial to the plot has little to distinguish her from the others aside from the fact that she happens to be wearing a dress. The plot is a somewhat questionable, with the children essentially stealing the hat that makes Frosty come to life (I actually agree with the villain here) and Santa making a deus ex machina cameo appearance, but it almost works if you don’t think about it too much. I can understand the film’s nostalgic appeal, but cute characters and a good idea don’t always make for a particularly entertaining piece of art.
