Haunted by trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family. After spending a tense beach day with their friends, Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway. The endearing American family faces doppelgangers of themselves.

So much going on here submitted by majean on July 27, 2019, 1:47pm I did see the twist coming from the beginning of the movie, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable. This is a very layered movie that I will be turning over in my head for some time. Lupita Nyong'O's dual performances are absolutely stunning. She is a dynamite actor!

Wonderful movie! submitted by eilusk on June 19, 2022, 3:39pm I really liked everything about this film. The story comes to a satisfying conclusion, but raises troubling questions about guilt and empathy that the audience and characters are left to answer for themselves. There's a lot to chew on with regards to themes and so on, but it also works on a fun popcorn level, with exciting action and some great comic relief. Lupita Nyong'o steals the show, but the rest of the cast delivered strong performances as well, including the younger actors. The cinematography and soundtrack delivered a ton of iconic action sequences, songs, and visuals. The doppelganger scenes were so seamless I was surprised by the "making of" feature about them - I guess I forgot Nyong'o can't just do that!

If you liked Jordan Peele's "Get Out", I think you will probably like this movie too, because the style, tone, and pacing are similar. Also, if you are unsure about this film because you think it is a home invasion horror movie, as one of my friends was: I don't think of it as part of that genre. The Us trailer shows an iconic "home invasion-y" scene, but most of the movie isn't like that. For example, the characters don't stay in the house for very long after the horror elements are introduced.
