Plagiarism as Poetry submitted by sdwitmer on June 24, 2019, 12:11pm Set in '50s Paris at the intellectual crossroads of Existentialism and Situationism, Memoirs of a Book Thief follows frustrated poet Daniel Brodin through various conflicting literary communities as he scams acceptance from each group and absorbs shiftless theories of art and life. Daniel is attracted by the avant-garde cafe scene that validates his criminal impulses, while simultaneously pursuing recognition from the reviled literary establishment. The art by Van Hove is low-key but capable of expressionistic flourishes, perfectly complimenting the tone of the story.
