COMMUNITY REVIEWS

REAL Southern Chef submitted by purchasingqueen on August 28, 2022, 8:12am Vivian Howard and her husband, Ben, leave their high pressure jobs in NYC to open a restaurant, Chef and the Farmer, in rural NC. Her parents are helping finance, on the condition that they open the restaurant where Vivian grew up (and not in the Big City-NYC). The move is quite a change for them but they make it work with a lot of determination and (Southern) grit! She is real, funny and knowledgeable enough to know she doesn't know it all. So, their journey to learn from home chefs in the area, use local ingredients, make mistakes and move on is charming. (Future seasons will see them start a family, open another restaurant, build a home and write a cookbook - stay tuned!)
