Southeast Michigan -- Lake Huron -- Heartland -- Lake Michigan -- Sleeping Bear Dunes -- Pere Marquette -- Tip of the mitt.
"Explore the hills, ridges, sand dunes, and breathtaking views of the Great Lake State, one trail at a time Michigan's Lower Peninsula offers extremely diverse terrain, from beaches that are home to shipwrecks and lighthouses, streams populated with trout, and wildflower and orchid fields to spaces with unusual geological formations, sand dunes, and steep climbs, and beech forests perfect for birding. Each chapter begins with an overview of each hike -- the type of hike, total distance, time, difficulty, highlights, maps, and trailhead GPS coordinates. Readers will learn the best way to access the trail, tips and suggestions, and key features to look out for along the way (scenic views, drinking water, rest stops, waterfalls, and old growth trees). Whether readers are setting out in the Sleeping Bear region to observe shipwrecks, open dunes, and beach walking on the South Manitou Island trail, 50 Hikes in Michigan (with 10 bonus hikes!) is the perfect companion"-- Provided by publisher.

Actually 60 Hikes! submitted by sara on June 30, 2019, 11:50am Unfortunately, none of the hikes are nearby, but, if you plan to travel, this book would be very useful. It breaks the hikes down into region, distance, difficulty, etc., as well as giving you trail maps and a description of the location. I read the description of one hike I am familiar with, and the description was spot-on.

love it submitted by kevinhe on July 23, 2019, 10:43am my favorite hike place is stony creek metropark in Shelby of Michigan.

Not what I was looking for submitted by kristen.ochomogo on August 4, 2023, 8:33am This features mostly hikes in the northwest lower peninsula, with only a few from the rest of the state.
