Wonderfully weird! submitted by clk.9123 on August 21, 2022, 3:04pm As a Twitter follower of Kristen Arnett's for quite awhile, I was very excited to finally read the book she had been tweeting about writing for ages. Arnett is absolutely hilarious, and I see her humor laid out in this book in random pieces - despite the majority of it being rather macabre, stressful, and oftentimes sad. The complexities of growing up, families, relationships, sexuality are all explored here but in a way I haven't read before. She told a completely unique story from start to finish, all centered around the family's taxidermy business. It was completely weird and wild, very Florida, and I couldn't put it down all weekend. I give it 5 stars for such creativity, and being so well written, she really created a sensory experience with this book. If I could change anything, I probably would have better explored how the relationship with her father and her best friend/lover were damaging to her, especially in her connecting with family and partners...because it seems as though those two relationships were in some ways mentally abusive and manipulative, but Jessa held her dad and Brynn on such pedestal's that this was not apparent to her even into adulthood.
