Tiffy and Leon share an apartment in London. Tiffy and Leon have never met. After a bad breakup, Tiffy Moore needs a place to live. Fast. And cheap. But the apartments in her budget have her wondering if astonishingly colored mold on the walls counts as art. Desperation makes her open minded, so she answers an ad for a flatshare. Leon, a night shift worker, will take the apartment during the day, and Tiffy can have it nights and weekends. He'll only ever be there when she's at the office. In fact, they'll never even have to meet. Tiffy and Leon start writing each other notes - first about what day is garbage day, and politely establishing what leftovers are up for grabs, and the evergreen question of whether the toilet seat should stay up or down. Even though they are opposites, they soon become friends. And then maybe more. But falling in love with your roommate is probably a terrible idea... especially if you've never met.

Thoughtful British Romance submitted by sdunav on July 28, 2019, 10:14am This was a lovely romance, and deceptively thought-provoking - it starts out very light and chick-lit-ish, and eases you into an examination of race, prison, class differences, and emotional abuse, along with the love story - but not in a heavy-handed or obvious way. It's all just part of the story. The characters are complex and interesting (and believable), the plot moves along well and is not totally predictable, and the settings are delightful. Highly recommended.

Not into romance but... submitted by sara on July 24, 2021, 8:49am Not into romance but... this book was great. It has a cleaver format and was well written. Amazing for a first novel.

unconventional but lovely! submitted by smgop on August 13, 2021, 2:48pm What a delightful, unconventional story. Highly improbable, but that's why it's called fiction!

Fun British romance submitted by pamhockey25 on July 18, 2022, 11:28am Tiffy and Leon don't know each other, and Tiffy needs to find a place to live quickly and Leon needs some financial assistance so they end up sharing a single-bedroom flat. Leon works nights so he gets the flat during the day. Tiffy gets the flat at night so the two shall never actually meet. They start out leaving each other notes, and eventually grow to know each other through them...of course they do eventually meet. An enjoyable romance.

Strongly recommend submitted by Mary Grace Kennedy on July 23, 2022, 9:53pm I loved the format and thought it was a good mix of light hearted and thought provoking. If you listen to the audiobooks I enjoyed the reader change and both of their voices as well.

Also a good audio book submitted by annakbh on July 10, 2023, 10:30pm I liked it enough to go back and listen after reading the book. Thumbs up.
