Narrated by Kevin R. Free.
In a corporate-dominated spacefaring future, planetary missions must be approved and supplied by the Company. Exploratory teams are accompanied by Company-supplied security androids, for their own safety. But in a society where contracts are awarded to the lowest bidder, safety isn't a primary concern. On a distant planet, a team of scientists are conducting surface tests, shadowed by their Company-supplied 'droid--a self-aware SecUnit that has hacked its own governor module, and refers to itself (though never out loud) as "Murderbot." Scornful of humans, all it really wants is to be left alone long enough to figure out who it is. But when a neighboring mission goes dark, it's up to the scientists and their Murderbot to get to the truth.

Don’t let the name fool you submitted by Cherie on June 14, 2023, 12:20pm Don’t let the name fool you; all Murderbot wants is to be left alone so it can watch its shows in peace. This was an excellent sci-fi novella written in a journal-style format. I listened to it on audio, so having the addition of a good narrator helped add an extra level of immersion into the story.
We’re introduced to Murderbot on his current mission, which is to bodyguard a team of researchers on an uninhabited planet. A simple, easy mission, in which Murderbot could watch hundreds of hours of Sanctuary Moon with minimal trouble. Unfortunately, things quickly go awry when unregistered fauna attack and an entire research team is found murdered…. Not by Murderbot.
A really quick read/listen with an engaging mystery, humorous and very relatable main character, and more volumes for those who want to continue the journey with Murderbot.

Love Murderbot submitted by Maria Maguire on July 20, 2023, 11:05pm I loved this series! It's my favorite thing I've read this year. And most books are novellas, so they're quick reads!
