A teenage girl and her father travel to a remote alien moon; aiming to strike it rich. They've secured a contract to harvest a large deposit of the elusive gems hidden in the depths of the moons toxic forest. But there are others roving the wilderness, and the job quickly devolves into a fight to survive. Forced to contend not only with the forests other ruthless inhabitants; but with her own father's, greed-addled judgment; the girl finds she must carve her own path to escape.

Lo-fi Sci-fi Frontier Survival submitted by sdwitmer on June 23, 2019, 10:53am Prospect is an excellent, low-key sci-fi adventure that follows the ordeals of a teenage girl stuck on an isolated forest moon when her father signs up for a risky get-rich-quick expedition. The movie hints at a larger universe through small details with the texture of weathered 70s-era technology. It evokes the feel of space exploration similar to the worlds of Alien or early Star Wars, particularly through the contrast of clunky computers within a wild, almost primitive landscape. As the title suggests, the plot of Prospect follows the contours of a classic Western while also drawing on other settings and genres. I recommend it as a character-driven suspense story with several surprising twists!

A tale of two films submitted by mandevil on June 25, 2019, 1:44pm This film focuses on a teenage girl who must use her wits to survive on an alien world. Somehow echoes for me the young teenage girl in Leave No Trace. Also a young women who must survive in the woods. Both have fathers who have left them to make their way on their own. One whose father’s greed has caused his own death. The other with a father so uncomfortable with the world he must hide away in the wilderness.
