Early eighteenth-century England is at war with the French. A frail Queen Anne occupies the throne, and her friend Lady Sarah tends to her ill health. When a new servant Abigail arrives, Sarah takes her under her wing, and Abigail sees a chance at a return to her aristocratic roots. As the politics of war become time-consuming for Sarah, Abigail steps in to fill in as the Queen's companion. Their growing friendship gives her a chance to fulfill her ambitions, and no one will stand in her way.

I LOVE THIS WEIRD MOVIE submitted by Sara W on July 13, 2019, 7:08am this movie is NUTS and i enjoyed every bizarre moment. the costumes are perfection and the casting couldn't be any better. colman, weisz, and stone are each incredible but nicholas hoult was a surprising delight as well. i cannot stress enough - this movie is absolutely bonkers.

Incredible submitted by ferielp on July 18, 2019, 11:58am I don't usually enjoy Yorgos' films, but I trusted in how superb Olivia Coleman and Rachel Weisz are. This was cleverly acted and directed and it made my heart burst to see 3 female leads with unexpected personalities - you could not fit any of them in the common character tropes. I'd watch this again.
