Read by Juliet Stevenson.
As the novel opens, a small girl is rescued from a wintry river that winds through a village older than memory, a river that is central to the lives and imaginations of the people who live on its banks. Though initially thought dead, she miraculously begins to breathe again. What happened to her? Who is she? Everyone in this novel has a story, and the border between truth and fantasy, eternity and the now, is more porous than we would ever think and crossed as swiftly as the river itself.

a nice story book submitted by kerstinrh on June 20, 2019, 6:40pm A young girl is discovered in the Tahmes River late on the night of the winter solstice and is brought to the local storytelling bar The Swan where she is feared dead. Word gets out and three different families claim her has their own missing daughter. Each family’s story and secrets are shared in trying to discover the girls true identity. The story reads like a fairy tale with folklore and even bit of magic.

Wonderful submitted by cldaniels on August 24, 2021, 5:14pm A magical, mystical tale, with multiple life events and stories weaving in and out with the flow of the river.
