Linoleum block print on paper. Michigan artist. Marian Short is a Michigan-based artist and writer, who began printmaking in 1999. The physical act of carving was a refreshing counterpoint to writing, while variations and happy accidents that sprang up in the journey from idea to finished print kept her hooked. The interplay of text and image in her quirky woodblock prints spring from a life-long enthusiasm for picture books. Her artwork has been included in group exhibits at the Ann Arbor Art Center, The CAID, Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, Art.Science.Gallery (Austin, TX), and the Chemical Heritage Foundation (Philadelphia, PA). She has been featured in solo exhibits at the University of Michigan Hospital{u2019}s Gifts of Art program: Seeking Delight, Creating Mayhem (2011) and Cakeasaurus: Scenes from a Picture Book (March - June 2017). Marian originally hails from the suburbs of Philadelphia, where she thrived in an art-filled house (painter/seamstress/calligraphist mother, photographer father and sister); she moved to the mitten in 1994.

I'd like it better without the words. submitted by lisa on August 29, 2019, 12:38pm It's saying that anyway, yes? I feel like it loses the courage of itself when it tells, spills the beans, drops the punchline.

this is good submitted by .-.-.-. on June 15, 2020, 9:16am This is good. I really like the yellow shade in this. If there was a bit more to this, then definitely 5/5 stars.

cheerful print brightens a room submitted by csleh on July 2, 2020, 7:55pm my apartment has all white walls. this bright print made the space feel happier! Plus it's a good size to really make a statement. Woodblock prints are cool because they aren't perfect, which i find inspirational.
