Amos Decker and his FBI partner Alex Jamison are visiting Decker's hometown of Burlington, Ohio, when he's approached by Meryl Hawkins -- the first person Decker ever arrested for murder back when he was a young detective. A dozen years in prison have left Hawkins unrecognizably aged and terminally ill, but one thing hasn't changed: he maintains he never committed the murders. Thrilling journey toward redemption submitted by ramcgarty on June 26, 2019, 9:32am David Baldacci is a master at grabbing the reader’s interest and holding it through all of the twists and turns in the plot. I enjoyed how he started with the past and entwined it in the present and the many mysteries to be solved.
