"Set in a darkly glamorous world The Gilded Wolves is full of mystery, decadence and dangerous but thrilling adventure. Paris, 1889: The world is on the cusp of industry and power, and the Exposition Universelle has breathed new life into the streets and dredged up ancient secrets. In this city, no one keeps tabs on secrets better than treasure-hunter and wealthy hotelier, Séverin Montagnet-Alarie. But when the all-powerful society, the Order of Babel, seeks him out for help, Séverin is offered a treasure that he never imagined: his true inheritance. To find the ancient artifact the Order seeks, Séverin will need help from a band of experts: An engineer with a debt to pay. A historian who can't yet go home. A dancer with a sinister past. And a brother in all but blood, who might care too much. Together, they'll have to use their wits and knowledge to hunt the artifact through the dark and glittering heart of Paris. What they find might change the world, but only if they can stay alive." -- (Source of summary not specified)

Exciting mystery! submitted by jdev13 on June 15, 2019, 6:09am I loved watching the mystery unfold in this tale of alchemy and 1880s France. The cast of characters was so endearing and their chemistry was electric! Such an exciting read, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next!

Not as good as I hoped submitted by emilyb308 on July 21, 2019, 5:11pm I was fully prepared to adore this book, but I'm sad to say it didn’t live up to expectations. The world-building was unclear, the plot was somewhat difficult to follow, and the characters weren’t compelling enough to make me care about them. The conclusion left many questions unanswered, and yet I have no desire to pick up the eventual sequel.

Exotic submitted by O'Eily on July 23, 2019, 9:06pm I loved how the author pulled you into the magic, the friendship, and the exciting mystery and action. And there is a reason why there's a sequel, btw.

Lots of promise but not well delivered submitted by steveiew on July 19, 2020, 5:52pm This book sounded right up my ally but it suffered from unclear world building. I wasn't sure what the author was talking about and most of the magic system wasn't super clear. I also found it difficult to follow at times.

If you like Six of Crows...check this out submitted by laursanc6 on June 24, 2021, 5:28pm Was way better than expected. I eventually fell in love with most of these characters all though I do have to see I got very strong resemblances to Six of Crows characters. I think the heist plot was fun but definitely confusing at times. I think I’m just not a fan of main heist guys with a painful past who say things to hurt the ones they love just to push them away. I really didn’t enjoy Severin and I really only wanted to read Laila, Zofia, and Enriques chapters lol. I should also say I love Enrique and Zofia and that last chapter with them made me sad :( Anyway super excited to read the next book!

cute little cry sesh submitted by saphirahogan on July 17, 2023, 4:11pm rereading this was honestly so much fun. i loved the characters with my whole heart and im stuck between a 4.5 or a 5 star for this one hhhhng. i think it just comes down to the fact that the math confused my little brain and i wasn't sure what was happening at times bUT i loved it and i forgot about something that happened so i got a cute little cry sesh<3
