Excellent book! submitted by Terry Hirth Caldwell on July 17, 2019, 1:43am This was my first exploration into the world of Palestinian Americans. The story begins in Palestine but most takes place here. Any further review would give too much away. This book is well worth your time if you like to step into other cultures and dysfunctional family dynamics.

Educational submitted by diana_kimball on July 15, 2020, 6:37pm Etaf chose to break her silence of a world about which many Americans are unaware. Many Muslim women are treated with violence unless they willingly play the role of silent mother and wife. Transition to life in America is especially difficult.

Shocking, at times, and sad

Story about Palestinian Woman submitted by flemingj on August 5, 2020, 7:02am Sad story of oppression through 3 generations of Palestinian women in America.

Brilliant book submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 5, 2022, 10:59pm Wow, wow, wow. An absolutely brilliant interweaving of three Palestinian women’s stories to chronicle generational change in an immigrant family. The stresses, strains, and pressures on many different family members (and roles within the family) are viewed from within and without in compassionate ways. I love the many ways that strength is depicted. This is definitely one of my top books for 2022.
