"After years of struggling as a writer in 1990s New York City, James Smale finally gets his big break when his novel sells to an editor at a major publishing house: none other than Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Jackie, or Mrs. Onassis as she's known in the office, has fallen in love with James's candidly autobiographical novel, one that exposes his own dysfunctional family. But when the book's forthcoming publication threatens to unravel already fragile relationships, both within his family and with his partner, James finds that he can't bring himself to finish the manuscript. Jackie and James develop an unexpected friendship, and she pushes him to write an authentic ending, encouraging him to head home to confront the truth about his relationship with his mother. But when a long-held family secret is revealed, he realizes his editor may have had a larger plan that goes beyond the page..."-- Provided by publisher.

Great for Jackie O fans submitted by A2AE on July 31, 2022, 9:52am Great fan-fiction for Jackie O fans; this story imagines a young, gay writer who is paired with Jackie as an editor for his first book. Admittedly, I'm not a huge Jackie O fan, so I found the book a bit slow at times. I do love the reader for Rowley's audiobooks and was only able to finish it by using the audiobook after the first 100 pages and bumping it up to 1.4 speed.
Slow start but picks up in the end submitted by Bethybeth07 on August 13, 2023, 11:22pm I almost gave up on this book but kept going and I’m glad I did. The storyline was interesting and the characters were likeable
