Good Redford submitted by brooksza on July 25, 2022, 3:50pm This worked really well as a farewell to Robert Redford's career. The final montage and a few of the shots of Forrest watching movies contribute to his sendoff. This could have easily been a bloated 2.5 hour movie and I think the concise story is fine here.

There are two scenes with incredible tension: the first time Forrest and John are in the same building (bank) and in a bathroom (music, ticking sound effect, cutting all work together for this effect). They are edge-of-your-seat scenes. The music fits really well and sets the mood. The one time Forrest tries to do something in a bank on the up and up is effective.

I like how John and Forrest mirror each other, even down to their facial hair.

Heartfelt performances and the cast as a whole. Messages about aging and doing what you love.
