I enjoyed this romp through time travel what ifs, and thought that the author had some fun with the big questions of getting stuck, living life, and dealing with consequences. It was definitely an enjoyable read. It was a little much on the “every scene is either an action scene or a pull-your-heartstrings emotion scene” for me. (It could be that they really weren’t, but that’s how it feels from a few hours after finishing.) Nice ending, though.

a fun adventure story - but don't read the blurb! submitted by nemiller on June 27, 2022, 8:30pm The blurb literally tells 75% of the story! (I listened to the audio version on Libby, and I checked - it was at 72% when I got to the plot point revealed in the OverDrive blurb!) I think that took away from my enjoyment, because I felt like I was just waiting for the story to arrive at what I thought was the main plot.

On the other hand, I did like seeing how everything unfolded. I thought the action was interesting and well-paced. I liked the balance between action and exploring family dynamics, which is a hallmark of Mike Chen's books.

Overall, I found it enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it as a lighter read.
