Reissue of Columbia CS 8579 (p1962), LP 33 1/3.
Liner notes by Stacey Williams inserted in container.
You're no good -- Talkin' New York -- In my time of dyin' -- Man of constant sorrow -- Fixin' to die -- Pretty Peggy-O -- Highway 51 blues -- Gospel plow -- Baby, let me follow you down -- House of the risin' sun -- Freight train blues -- Song to Woody -- See that my grave is kept clean.
Bob Dylan, vocals/guitar/harmonica.
Dylan's debut album which features two Dylan penned originals and several covers. The heavy influence of Woody Gutherie can be heard on the album, but it is the punk-like aggressivness to Dylan's singing and playing that set the folk singer apart.
Compact disc.
Contents: Together in song.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

The very first album Dylan made submitted by ccrose on August 20, 2019, 8:51pm It’s made on the Columbia label so he must have jettisoned to this really big deal after just playing in Greenwich Village clubs. He got a five year contract and this was the beginning.
There’s some old blues (Baby, Let Me Follow You Down, See That My Grace is Kept Clean, House of Rising Sun) a Stanley Brothers song, Pretty Polly. Hwy 51 came from Curtis Jones, a long time Southern blues singer, who got a Bluesville record deal, 1960. So these were what he came to town ready to play. His tunes, protest songs got written fast from there.? He'd been doing his homework, studying the generation ahead of him. I like the legend quality of this, his first record, an 18 year old who learned a lot and got better quickly.
