"From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sophie Kinsella, an irresistible story of love and empowerment about a young woman with a complicated family, a handsome man who might be "the one," and an IOU that changes everything. Fixie Farr has always lived by her father's motto: "Family first." But ever since her dad passed away, leaving his charming kitchen supply store in the hands of his children, Fixie spends all her time picking up the slack from her siblings instead of striking out on her own. The way Fixie sees it, if she doesn't take care of her father's legacy, who will? It's simply not in Fixie's nature to tell people "no." So when a handsome stranger in a coffee shop asks her to watch his laptop for a moment, Fixie not only agrees--she ends up saving it from certain disaster. Turns out the computer's owner is an investment manager named Sebastian. To thank Fixie for her quick thinking, he scribbles an IOU on a coffee sleeve and attaches his business card. But Fixie laughs it off--she'd never actually claim an IOU from a stranger. Would she? Then Fixie's childhood crush Ryan comes back into her life and his lack of a profession pushes all of Fixie's buttons. She wants nothing for herself, but for Seb to give Ryan a job. And Seb agrees, until the tables are turned once more and a new series of IOU's between Seb and Fixie--from small favors to life-changing moments--ensue. Soon Fixie, Ms. Fixit for everyone else, is torn between her family and the life she really wants. Does she have the courage to take a stand for herself? Will she finally grab the life, and love, she really wants?"-- Provided by publisher.

Seriously underwhelming submitted by Cihendricks on June 14, 2019, 1:42pm This book didn't live up to my expectations.

Not as fun as her previous books submitted by lalichter on June 24, 2019, 10:59pm This seemed a bit more serious than her previous books. But it still had a happy ending.

Another great read submitted by blue77rose on June 28, 2019, 10:50am This is such a fun read. It's very similar to her other great reads. Very fast paced and doesn't disappoint.

Interesting Romance about Class in UK submitted by sdunav on July 11, 2019, 5:15pm Some good insights into class differences, how to handle $$$, jobs, and being obliged to another person in this romance.

Frustrating submitted by jcottey on August 18, 2019, 4:49pm Over 200 pages of the heroine constantly being trod upon by horrible people in her life, including her family, without sticking up for herself. Even when she finally finds her voice, misunderstandings and nasty people continue to cause problems. Even the ending can’t redeem the hard times I endured reading about so much woe. I enjoy Kinsella’s writing style, but this book was a bit too dreary.

I Owe You One- submitted by sara on June 17, 2020, 6:36pm It made me laugh out loud-something I rarely do when reading. It’s a very light, gentle read when you need that sort of book.

Fairly good submitted by kelleyc on August 16, 2021, 10:20am I am a die-hard Kinsella fan so I can't say anything bad. This isn't my favorite book of hers - definitely more serious than her others. I usually love her super lighthearted tone but this one is a little heavier. Still wonderfully enjoyable though.

a good read submitted by Aimless on August 1, 2022, 11:31am more serious and enjoyable than her previous books
